A garden tour and tea will be held on Sunday, July 23rd from 1 PM to 5 PM at 10912, 10922, and 10930 Mississippi Blvd., Coon Rapids. This fundraiser is sponsored by and benefits the Senate District 47 DFL. Several of this fall's candidates including Melissa Hortman will be there to meet constituents.
Twin sisters, Janet and Janice Robidoux, and their neighbors, Everett Anderson and Tom Miller, will be sharing access to their adjacent properties along the Mississippi River. The park-like gardens host many visits each year.
The five acres encompass a variety of formal, wildflower, and water gardens. Wood chip paths take visitors from prairie/butterfly gardens adjoining Mississippi boulevard to a 30 by 70 foot boulder-edged pond shared with the Millers by the Robidoux sisters. Water plants adorn the pond. After crossing a small bridge, visitors pass by terraced flower beds filled with hundreds of annuals, perennials, and shrubs. A rock garden with a small waterfall and stream seperates the Anderson and Robidoux homes.
Behind the homes the Mississippi River provides the background to relax and have iced tea, lemonade, and cookies.
The gardens have been featured in the Home and Garden section of the "Minneapolis Star Tribune" and on the "Rebecca's Garden" national TV show.
Tickets will be sold at the gate and are $15 for general admission, $10 for seniors, and $5 for children under 12.
The event will be canceled in case of rain.
The Senate District 47 Chair is Mike Nelson, minelcr@peoplepc.com .
